Where does ChatGPT store your data?

Your chats live on OpenAI's US servers — unless you're a big shot with EU storage.

The facts

  • They save: your prompts, ChatGPT's replies, and that 2 AM existential-crisis question.
  • They don't train on it — unless you opt in. (Why, though?)
  • Delete it anytime: bulk GDPR wipe, or one-by-one therapy-session cleanup.

Where should AI stash your data?

  • US — fast and easy, like my coffee order
  • EU — extra privacy, extra bureaucracy
  • My Notes app (oh wait…)
